NDP wins two awards for excellence
Agency recognized by Hampton Roads PRSA chapter
NDP, a nationally recognized advertising and public relations agency, won two awards for excellence in public relations for the agency’s contributions to revitalizing Norfolk’s waterfront.
The agency won two Pinnacle Awards from the Hampton Roads chapter of the Public Relations Society of America — one in the category of community relations, the other for special events.
Both were related to the revitalization of Norfolk’s riverfront Waterside District. Working with Cordish Companies, NDP created a community relations campaign that would combat negative perceptions of the old Waterside while drawing people of all ages to the new Waterside District. Results included nearly 950 media stories and more than 35,000 visitors during the Grand Opening weekend in mid-May 2017.
Separately, when Luk Fu, a Pan-Asian restaurant, committed to a location in Waterside District, NDP organized a Lion Dance Parade for the Chinese New Year to announce the news. Parade-goers got Fortune Cookies with messages about Luk Fu. The Lion Dancers were a hit on mainstream and social media, resulting in conversation and coverage about Luk Fu and Waterside District.
